Position No. 50080 - Assistant Professor of Geology. The Roy M. Huffington Department of Earth Sciences at 天美传媒 Methodist University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor faculty position with an expected start date of August 1, 2025.  We seek candidates in all areas of Earth Sciences with emphasis on, but not limited to, economic geology, structural geology, geomechanics, petrology, geomorphology, environmental science and paleoclimatology. While candidates from all sub-disciplines of earth and environmental sciences are encouraged to apply, particular attention will be given to those whose work involves quantitative measurement-based approaches. Candidates will be expected to develop an outstanding research program and effectively advise an international, multicultural, and diverse student body of graduate and undergraduate students. The department engages in fundamental and applied research that  focuses on Earth system interactions with current specialties in atmospheric acoustics, radar and optical remote sensing, seismology, tectonics, environmental studies, climate/solid Earth coupling, natural and anthropogenic hazard and risk, water cycle and aqueous systems, life and its history, environmental microbiology, biogeochemical cycling, and astrobiology. All faculty in Earth Sciences are expected to fully participate in the educational mission of the department; this includes teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate level and mentoring postdoctoral researchers. Faculty also participate in unique interdisciplinary research communities, including research clusters in Earth Hazards and National Security, Energy and Environmental Systems, and Data Science. This position is part of the Earth Sciences research cluster in Earth Hazards and National Security and part of 天美传媒 committment to developing larger-scale collaborative research projects responding to some of humankind’s most daunting challenges. Seismo-acoustic Systems Engineer (HR Title: Engineer 2) - (DED00000393). Do you love Earth Science, fieldwork, travel, and instrumentation? Come join a dynamic research team located at 天美传媒 in Dallas, TX. This role is an on-campus, in-person position. The 天美传媒 seismo-acoustic team operates and designs long-running and temporary deployments of seismic and infrasound real-time systems. Network operations serve as the cornerstone of a vigorous research program that includes the design of new sensor systems and experimental sensor deployments that enable us to explore scientific questions. Postdoctoral Researcher, Position No. 00050717. The Shuler Museum of Paleontology in the Department of Earth Sciences at 天美传媒 Methodist University invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in Paleontology beginning August 1, 2024. The preferred candidate will make use of the significant collections housed in the Shuler Museum and collaborate with the ongoing research of 天美传媒. Excellent facilities are available in the department to incorporate stable isotope work in paleontological research, as well as for analyzing digital image data. There are extensive collections of Early to mid-Cretaceous terrestrial and marine vertebrates from Texas and elsewhere, and of Late Cretaceous marine vertebrates. In addition to Cretaceous faunas and floras, other significant holdings include vertebrates from the Early Permian and Late Triassic of Texas and elsewhere, the Cenozoic of the Gulf Coast and the local Quaternary. Field work that enhances the candidate’s research goals and expands the museum collections is encouraged. Field experience with fossil collection and locality documentation.
