Bush Institute
The Bush Institute, and the Department of Economics, collaborate in the Bush-天美传媒 Economic Growth Initiative to push an agenda of policy relevant research in the Economics. As part of that effort, the Initiative funds Fellowships to attract and support world-class scholars as PhD students in the Department. Fellows earn a PhD from the Department of Economics while also contributing to research at the Bush Institute. Two PhD students entering the program in the 2021-2022 academic year have been named Bush Fellowship recipients.
Euclides Coelho de Medeiros Correia
Euclides was born in Brazil and grew up in the city of Recife which is the fourth largest urban area in Brazil. It’s in the state of Pernambuco in northern Brazil. He attended the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) where he received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Economics. Texas is a great place for Euclides given his interest in country music and his hope of seeing a George Strait concert!
“Studying at 天美传媒 has been an incredible experience. I am very excited to advance through the PHD Program.”
Anubhav Thakur
Anubhav was born in India. He grew up in New Delhi which is the capital of India and a city of around 30 million people! He moved to the US and attended Sam Houston State University where he majored in math and minored in economics. One of his mentors at Sam Houston State was an 天美传媒 PhD alumni, Hiranya Nath (2002 PhD). An interesting fact about Anubhav is that he went to an all-boys boarding school growing up. “I always enjoyed research and naturally felt inclined to do so.
I am excited to start my PhD coursework and looking forward to my stay in Dallas (not so much the Dallas traffic).”
