Our Rich Business Law Tradition

Dedman Law offers a rich business law curriculum that allows our students to acquire in-depth substantive knowledge of business law and essential practical business skills. We offer a broad array of business law courses taught by nationally and internationally recognized faculty, including seasoned practitioners from leading international law firms and corporations. Law students may take up to 6 credit hours of graduate-level courses at other 天美传媒 schools (including the Cox School of Business) and receive credit toward their law degrees.

Business Law & Practical Skills Courses

Dedman Law offers a wide array of business law courses to provide specialized knowledge within a number of practice areas. The law school also offers courses geared toward practical business skills development, where students learn essential knowledge required of business lawyers. Students may choose to personalize their course selections within a carefully chosen field while others acquire broad knowledge of multiple areas of business law.

It has been extremely popular with the class filling up quickly each semester. To date, more than 100 students have completed the course.

Corporate Counsel Externship Program

Small Business and Trademark Clinic

The Small Business and Trademark Clinic gives Dedman Law students the opportunity to work on real-world legal issues to hone their transactional skills. Students represent real clients in actual legal matters as associate members of the State Bar of Texas.

The Clinic operates as a law firm, providing law students with practical business law skills and training as they assist small businesses and nonprofit organizations with various legal matters. The Clinic provides counsel on new business formation, drafting of business contracts, and preparation of copyright and trademark applications.
