Luke McLeroy teaches Intellectual Property Licensing as an Adjunct Professor at 天美传媒 Dedman School of Law. When he is not in the classroom, Luke works as Managing Member of LFM Firm, PLLC, a firm he started in 2025 with more than twenty years of experience as an intellectual property licensing executive, legal counsel, and mediator.

Previously, Luke worked at Avanci where he designed, built, and operated multiple licensing platforms that efficiently share essential technology owned by dozens of companies. Luke made integral contributions to the creation and growth of the ground-breaking Avanci Vehicle 4G licensing platform, which at the time of his departure had licensed more than 175 million connected vehicles under the essential patents owned by more than 50 leading wireless companies.

Luke also led the North American patent licensing business of a Fortune 500 company and practiced as a principal at a Dallas law firm during his career. In those roles, he analyzed, developed, valued, and licensed intellectual property portfolios in diverse technology areas such as wireless connectivity, satellite communications, energy, audio and video codecs, and data networks and security. He also represented clients in front of legislative bodies, government agencies, standard-setting organizations, and other forums to advocate on issues related to intellectual property and the development of global technical standards. Luke has been invited to speak on intellectual property and standard essential patents at events hosted by the American Bar Association, the Berkley 天美传媒 for Law and Technology, the European Commission, the International Telecommunications Union, the Licensing Executives Society, Stanford Law School, Tilburg University, Tokyo University, University College London, and the World Intellectual Property Organization.
