Aquatics Programs

The Dedman ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½’s Indoor Pool is a 5-lane, 25-meter, pool available for recreational swimming to ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Students, Dedman ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Members and paid guests.

Campus Recreation Aquatics offers a variety of programs and courses designed for enjoyment, safety, and life-long water recreation and exercise.  These include swim lessons, lifeguard certification courses, and more. Swim Lessons – ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Campus Recreation Aquatics

 ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Campus Recreation Aquatics offers high-quality swim instruction for both adults and children in a safe and encouraging environment. Our experienced instructors tailor lessons to all skill levels, from non-swimmers to advanced stroke refinement.

 

Lesson Information

  • Age Requirement: Children must be at least 3 years old and out of diapers.
  • Lesson Duration: 30 minutes per session.
  • Private Lessons (1 Person Per Instructor Per Lesson):
  • Accepted Payment Methods: VISA, MasterCard, and Discover.

 

Health & Safety

All participants, accompanying family members, and instructors must self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms before arriving. Stay home and reschedule if you:

  • Have symptoms of COVID-19.
  • Have been in contact with someone showing symptoms or awaiting test results.
  • Have been in contact with a COVID-positive individual in the last 10 days.

 

Swim Lesson Policies

  • Expiration: Lesson packages expire 6 months (180 days) after purchase.
  • Non-Refundable & Non-Transferable: Lessons are only for the person to whom they were sold.
  • Facility Access:
    • Participants must check in at the Dedman ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ before entering the facility.
    • Outside of lesson time, participants and their families cannot use the pool or facility without a Dedman ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ membership.
    • Family members must remain on the pool deck during lessons.
  • Lesson Scheduling:
    • Instructors may schedule longer lessons (e.g., a 1-hour session = 2 lessons).
    • All lessons must be purchased in advance through the Dedman ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½.

 

Cancellations & Tardiness

 

Instructor Cancellations

  • If an instructor cancels, the lesson will be rescheduled at no cost.

 

Client Cancellations

  • With 48+ hours' notice: You may reschedule the lesson.
  • Within 48 hours: The lesson is forfeited and will not be rescheduled.

 

Tardiness

  • Late Participant: Lessons will end at the scheduled time, with no refund or time extension.

How to Register

Submit the required form, and an ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Campus Recreation Aquatics representative will contact you once an instructor is available. Please note: Due to instructor availability, requests may take up to 2 weeks or more.

Qualifications: 

  • Must be 16 years old 
  • Must complete 6 hours of course content
  • Must complete a swim- tread-swim sequence: Jump into the water submerge resurface swim 150 yards (using the front crawl breaststroke or a combination of both) maintain position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes by treading water using only the legs then swim 50 yards using the front crawl breaststroke or a combination of both. 3. Complete a timed event within 1 minute 40 seconds by starting in the water swimming 20 yards surface dive (feet-first or head-first) to a depth of 7 to 12 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point holding the object at the surface with both hand exit the water without using a ladder or steps.
