Lecture Abstract

For neurodivergent individuals, society’s obsession with “health” often feels like pressure to conform rather than support to thrive. This lecture explores the ideology of healthism and how it forces neurodivergent people to prioritize respectability over their own needs. What happens when society's definition of 'health' is really about productivity and comfort for others? Explore the ethical and practical consequences and imagine a better way forward.
